Manuscripts for submission to journals
Medical Writing Services offers to write and edit two types of peer-review journal articles:

(i) investigative reports of laboratory, and clinical safety and efficacy data

(ii) review articles that discuss and interpret existing material

We always work closely with the author and other relevant personnel to ensure the proposed article satisfies journal requirements and is successful at presenting all key messages in a style that is appropriate for that journal and its target audience.

Manuscript writing For medical writers to be successful at this type of writing they must be prepared to spend a significant amount of time discussing certain fundamental issues with their client before starting to write. Not only is it important to understand the scientific content of the proposed manuscript, but it is also important to establish why a certain journal has been chosen as a target, to gain familiarity with the purpose of that journal, and to ensure the client has given sufficient consideration to their choice.

Most clients are happy to supply the medical writer with relevant background material (including a journal’s ‘Instructions to Authors’) and discuss in depth what aspects of their original data or existing material are of special importance. Often the most helpful discussions between a writer and the client are those that arise following review of the first draft, and sufficient time must be allowed for this part of the procedure. In most cases clients will continue to work closely with the medical writer until the final outcome of the journal submission is reached.
